America’s Boating Course (ABC3) gives recreational boaters the essential knowledge needed to operate safely, handle common situations, and enjoy more time on the water with confidence.
Class at a Glance
When: Saturday, September 19, from 8:00 a.m. to approximately 5:00 p.m.
Where: Lambs Yacht Center, second floor
3376 Lake Shore Blvd., Jacksonville, FL 32210
Cost: $20, including a 244-page illustrated book, CD, and proctored exam.
Certification: Students who pass qualify for a Florida Boating Safety Education ID Card.
What You’ll Learn
- Safe boat and personal watercraft handling
- Docking, anchoring, trailering, knots, and lines
- Navigation aids, boating rules, and VHF radio use
- Preparing for adverse conditions and emergencies
- Digital charts and GPS waypoint navigation
What to Bring
Please bring a sack lunch; the lunch break is approximately 30 minutes. Some drinks will be provided.
